Beginning therapy & Counselling services

Therapy Services

Most people, regardless of their specific challenges, can benefit from having an impartial observer listen and offer guidance. Because of therapy’s cost and time investment, however—as well as lingering stigma surrounding mental health—the decision to begin therapy isn’t always an easy one.

To determine whether therapy is the right choice for a particular individual, they should consider whether they feel sad, anxious, overwhelmed, or irritable more often than not; if yes, therapy would likely offer emotional support and help them develop the tools to manage their mental health. But strong negative emotions aren’t the only reason someone should seek therapy. If they are struggling with relationship challenges, feel stuck in their career, find themselves turning to drugs, alcohol, or food to cope with unpleasant events, or feel disconnected from the people around them, they may find therapy to be immensely helpful.

Our therapists specialize in mental health assessments, trauma informed therapy, depression, anxiety, difficulty coping, addictions and relationship issues.

We provide individual private therapy and counselling for adults and youth in a supportive, non judgmental environment with one of our qualified therapists.

Making the decision to begin therapy requires a commitment in time, energy and in some cases finances. Some professional designations are covered by insurance but many aren't.

To find out if your therapist is covered by your work insurance, please contact your insurance provider directly. We do not provide direct billing to insurance companies but in most cases it is very simple to get reimbursed by your insurance provider in as little as 1 week.

Trauma is the lasting emotional response that often results from living through a distressing event. Experiencing a traumatic event can harm a person’s sense of safety, sense of self, and ability to regulate emotions and navigate relationships. Long after the traumatic event occurs, people with trauma can often feel shame, helplessness, powerlessness and intense fear.

Trauma-informed care refers to therapeutic approaches that validate and are tailored to the unique experience of a person coping with PTSD. It understands the symptoms of trauma to be coping strategies that have developed in reaction to a traumatic experience. Non-judgmentally, it recognizes that a person with PTSD may have behavioural, emotional or physical adaptations that have developed in specific response to overwhelming stressors
